Rosebud
I never expected the end of the movie to turn out as it had, but in the end it truly summed up the film in a very nice way. The theme of losing ones innocents was portrayed in a way where in was given to the viewers in parts so that they could feel as if they too were experiencing the same things as Kane. I feel like the comparison of people to flowers was one that greatly embodied that. Another strong theme in the movie was the human need for compassion. Kane's need for affection is one that makes the viewer see him as a child rather than a grown man and allows the viewer to feel a greater compassion for him. This was definitely one of the more memorable movies I have seen thus far not only because of its dynamic filming but for its strong message.

Diana, I completely agree with you!
ReplyDeleteKane DID need affection and when his second wife left him; you could see that. In the way he had his tantrum and how his whole appeal was based on rash timing - all points to his childishness.
He was a large baby, I almost think of Lenny from "Of Mice and Men" when I think about it...
That is sooo true, I wanted to relate him to someone but I wasn't sure of who but I completely, he like Lenny is emotionally innocent and has a huge desire and need for affection
ReplyDeleteVery thoughtful commentary. Thanks to Val for adding to the general ferment.
